Make your writing unforgettable
Stories can make any piece of writing shine.
Whether you are writing for a major publication, for personal enjoyment, or for a professional presentation, weaving in storytelling can take your work from forgettable to unforgettable.
Womaning in India has been all about telling the stories I wanted my readers to know about.
In this course, we will delve into biographical and non-fictional storytelling - the same kind I practice with Womaning - to practice the art of great storytelling.
The course includes four writing workshops spread over four weeks, each four hours long.
Minimal gyaan from me. Some group work. And a LOT of actual writing and storytelling!
Assignments and Resources
Our four weeks together will also include four weekly assignments. I will share resources that will help you with them, and share my feedback after you submit each assignment.
But please note that I am not a marks-ist. Unless you use a Bollywood reference, in which case, 1000 points to you!
One-on-one call with me
A chance for us to connect, and go over any questions you might have about writing, publishing, storytelling, my career, your career, life, the universe, and (almost) anything.
Participants find this call to be incredibly helpful in improving their craft, selecting the right publication platform, and - most importantly - conquering their own imposter syndrome.
I hate to brag, but how else will you know if I am qualified to do this? So here goes.
My name is Mahima. I am a former civil servant, an IIM Bangalore alumna, and a Harvard-published author. I have co-authored a book with the Prime Minister of India. Over the last 15 years, I have worked in the development sector with organizations such as UNICEF, the World Bank, and Tata Trusts.
I am also the creator of the award-winning newsletter, Womaning in India. The stories I have told through Womaning have been read over half a million times.
Womaning in India is the most important newsletter I read, bar none. Thank you for the weekly dose of education and inspiration.
I binge-read all your newsletters in just 2 days, such was their pull and brilliance. Your writing is so fresh and impactful, the topics you choose are very relevant and oft-ignored. You make the world a better place!
Your newsletter has been a saviour for me. I can't thank you enough. You don't know how much good karma and blessings you have from moms like me for the work you do.
You have the gentle and mighty touch that can “comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted”. So more power to you, sharing widely!
Thank you for writing this newsletter. It has played a big role in helping me correct my biases. Thank you for showing us men the reality we could not see because of our privileges. Fabulous work!
The next two batches of the course will run in March and April 2024.
- Batch 1: Saturdays, 9, 16, 23, 30 March 2024 (9am-1pm)
- Batch 2: Saturdays, 6, 13, 20, 27 April 2024 (9am-1pm)
If these dates do not work for you, you can still sign up to be waitlisted for future cohorts. Waitlisted participants will get a personal alert for future cohorts, ahead of the public announcement.
You don’t have to be - or even aspire to be - a professional writer to benefit from this course.
If you are someone who enjoys sharing and listening to stories, you are more than ready for this course!
I intend for each participant to do a lot of writing in this course, and want every bit of your writing to get all the attention it deserves.
So the batch sizes will be quite small at 10-15 participants per batch.
The course fee is INR 15,000, plus GST
